As I expanded the Overlord membership of the Legion of Doom I tried to expand beyond the standard pulp tropes of the mad scientist, the monsters, the evil generals, and do something else. Doctor Wallstreet was one of my later and less-explored efforts in this direction. He was intended to be the embodiment of greed, avarice, detachment from the common people, and callous disregard of anyone but himself, or at least, the few rich and powerful enough to be considered his equals. But like all my Overlords, I wanted him to be fun and not quite so realistic a threat, so I decided he was so mean and evil that it had kind of corrupted him from the inside, so he looked like a buffalo wing that had spent a little too long in the frier. He remains oblivious to his own hideousness, which is part of the fun. We’ll be seeing more of him in MAW 2.o.
