Ah, the case with the mysterious glowing thing in it! It was a good enough trope for “Repo Man” and “Pulp Fiction,” so I decided it was good enough for Minions at Work too. I used this image for a couple of cartoons. The glow is just an LED “puck” light, designed for under-cabinet use, propped up inside the box to shine on Number 9. The light looks white to the eye, but on camera, it comes out a nice, ocean-blue.

The “holographic porn” punchline is actually kind of dated now. The world has moved right on to VR porn. Such is the way of any new entertainment technology, from VCRs to the internet…

I went a little crazy photo-editing in box labels in this one. All except that red box marked “Secret Safe.” That box, which I think may be a toy safe from a fast-food kid’s meal, was already labeled that way, and helped inspire the rest.
